Stansbury grabs third-straight Transcript Cup

Final Transcript Cup 2013-2014A strong spring season helped Stansbury pull away from Tooele and Grantsville to win the Transcript Cup trophy for the third-straight year.

The Stallions won region championships in baseball, soccer, boys track and girls track to pile up 19 points in spring sports compared to Grantsville’s 14 and Tooele’s 10.

Stansbury scored 50 points for the 2013-14 season, Tooele finished second at 37 and Grantsville placed third with 35.

Schools receive points on how they compare against other in sanctioned high school sports in final region standings. The top team receives three points, second-place two points and third-place one point.

Grantsville and Stansbury each earned three points for tying for the Region 11 championship in baseball.

Tooele earned three points for a region championship in softball, with Stansbury and Grantsville earning two points for a second-place tie.

Stansbury boys soccer tallied three points for its Region 11 title with Grantsville in second.

Stansbury tallied six points for prevailing over Grantsville in both boys and girls track.

The Grantsville boys tennis team earned three points for a Region 11 tennis championship, with Stansbury in second place.

The Stansbury girls golf team came on strong in the final region meets to edge out Tooele to earn three more points. The Buffaloes earned two points for finishing third in Region 11 girls golf.

Baseball, softball and track teams perform on the state stage this weekend as they shoot for elusive state championships.
