A Stansbury Park man died after crashing on his motorcycle near Stockton Sunday evening.
Lafayette Jepson, 59, was driving east on Silver Avenue around 6 p.m. when he noticed his back wheel was wobbling, said Lt. Jeff Morgan of the Tooele County Sheriff’s Department.
A witness reported Jepson looked down to check the tire, looked back up, and then suddenly jerked to the right and went off the shoulder, Morgan said.
The motorcycle rolled several times and traveled a significant distance before coming to a stop. Jepson was thrown from the bike and landed against a fence. He suffered head injuries, Morgan said. He also said the man was not wearing a helmet.
Jepson was flown by medical helicopter to a Salt Lake hospital. He died Monday due to the injuries he sustained in the crash, Morgan said. The cause of the crash appears to be of a mechanical nature, related to the wobbly tire, he added.
