Building a swimming program at Stansbury High School is a work in progress with most of those participating as sophomores and freshmen this season. The roster includes several first- year swimmers.
“Most of the kids on the team are first-year swimmers and only four have swum for more than one year,” said coach Dan Peterson.
“The one senior boy we have this year (Garrett) Hillman certainly will be missed next year,” Peterson said.
Stansbury matched up well with Bear River at a dual meet on Thursday, Jan. 23. Both schools lack the numbers enjoyed by other 3A teams. The Stallions were able to dunk the Bears in both the boys and girls competitions.
The Stansbury boys defeated Bear River 140-110. The Stansbury girls won 150-69.
Bear River did not even have a team for the Girls 200 Medley relay. So Stansbury won 15 team points in the event with an A team and a B team.
