Teen hurt after getting hit by truck

A Grantsville High School student was injured Thursday night in an egging war.

A group of teens were throwing eggs at one another at  Grantsville Reservoir about 11:20 p.m. when the 17-year-old boy stepped in front of another teen’s truck, said Lt. Travis Scharmann of the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy tried to step out of the way of the truck and dodge it, but was hit, Scharmann said.

“He wasn’t intentionally run over,” he said. “It was accidental.”

The boy was flown to a Salt Lake hospital in serious condition, where he remained as of Monday, Scharmann said. No one involved with the incident had been cited as of press time Tuesday.
