The temple’s top is in place. Construction workers installed a copper-colored dome on the top of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Deseret Peak Utah Temple under construction in the Overlake area of Tooele City on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2022.
A large needle like finial was also lifted up and affixed to the top of the dome. The shiny dome with the finial forms the top piece of the temple.
Poor weather conditions halted earlier plans to raise the dome and finial into place.
Stone cladding has been completed on three of the four sides of the temple’s exterior walls. Window frames and glass have been inserted into all of the temple’s window openings.
The Tooele Valley Utah Temple was announced on April 7, 2019, at the Sunday Afternoon Session of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ General Conference by President Russell M. Nelson. On January 19, 2021, the current name and location were announced.
