Thomas Richard Beckett Nelson died suddenly March 20 at his home in Sandy. He was born April 16, 1994 in Salt Lake City and raised in Kearns and Tooele. He graduated from Blue Peak High School. Tom loved literature, art, music and science. He had a brilliant and creative mind. He tackled challenges bravely and inspired others. He worked hard to overcome the difficulties life placed before him. Tom liked people. His friends and family were the best things in his life. He was dramatic and outgoing and adored animals and aliens. He was supportive of others. He enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons, playing video games, fishing with his dad, camping with his brother and watching movies with his mom(s). Spending time with friends meant the world to Tom. He loved Panda Express, Hot Cheetos, sushi and ice cream. Tom had an awesome sense of humor. We are so blessed to have been given the short time we had with our Tom. He taught us many important lessons. May we never forget. Tom is survived by his mother and stepfather, E. Hope and Robert L. Ness, sweetheart Jess Salano, brother Benjamin C. Nelson, aunts Kim Nelson, Holly Tuttle and Becky Thorne, uncle Richard B. Nelson, grandmother Juanita (Rusty) Sandoval, brother Jerry Johannsen, grandfather Duane Johannsen, uncles Steve and Dan Johannsen, the Ulibarri, Maxwell and Ness families, the Walmart ladies, and many kind, loving friends. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother Mike and Cindy Johannsen, grandmother Beverly Johannsen, uncle Edmund Christian Nelson and grandfather Richard Besson Nelson. Special thanks to aunts Holly Tuttle, Kim Nelson and Becky Thorne. Services for Tom will be held March 30 at 1 p.m. at the Tooele County Chamber of Commerce, 154 S. Main St. in Tooele.
