Town Hall Meetings: The commissioners have set up town hall meetings to explain to the voters why the county needs the proposed 82% tax increase. Those meetings are scheduled for Monday, June 17 at 7 p.m. at the Stansbury Park High School; Wednesday, June 19 at 7 p.m. at the Deseret Peak Complex Conference Center; and Tuesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. at the Grantsville High School Auditorium.
There will be a short presentation and then it will be open for questions.
South Rim Special Service District Election: The South Rim Special Service District is proposing to increase its property tax revenue at an election to be held Tuesday, June 25. The polling location will be at the Stockton Miner’s Café, 47 No. Conner Ave., Stockton, Utah. The poll will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are unable to vote that day, you are welcome to come in person to the Tooele County Clerk’s Office, 47 So. Main, Suite #318, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, ending Monday, June 24 at 5 p.m. Wherever you vote, valid voter ID is required.
– The South Rim Special Service District tax on a $300,000 residence would increase from $0 to $29.54 per year.
– The South Rim Special Service District tax on a $300,000 business would increase from $0 to $53.70 per year.
– If the proposed budget is approved, South Rim Special Service District would increase its property tax budgeted revenue by 100% above last year’s property tax budgeted revenue, excluding new growth.
