Two people were injured over the weekend in separate ATV accidents at Knolls in Tooele County’s west desert.
On Friday afternoon, Adam Bangerter, 44, of South Jordan, could not start his motorcycle and attached a tow strap to a fellow ATV-rider’s four-wheeler for a pull-start, said Lt. Jeff Morgan of the Tooele County Sheriff’s Department.
When Bangerter tried to put his motorcycle into gear, it suddenly jerked and threw him, breaking his collarbone, Morgan said. He was taken to Mountain West Medical Center by friends at the scene.
On Sunday afternoon, Angelina Rassmussen, 38, of Magna, was driving downhill on a dirt bike and lost control, Morgan said. The bike hit a brush at the bottom of the trail and the woman flipped over the handlebars. The bike then ran over her.
Rassmusen complained of severe pain in her left shoulder area, and said she could not move her body below the neck, Morgan said. She was flown to a Salt Lake hospital by medical helicopter for treatment.
