A driver who may have been intoxicated struck a parked Utah Highway Patrol cruiser in West Wendover on Saturday.
According to a press release from the West Wendover Police Department, officers from the WWPD responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries on Tibbets Boulevard.
A Chrysler minivan going south on that road had crossed over the center median and continued in the opposing travel lane until it struck a Utah Highway Patrol cruiser that was parked on the northbound side of the road, according to the release.
The driver and passenger of the minivan were both injured, according to the release, and taken to a Salt Lake hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The UHP vehicle was unoccupied at the time.
According to the release, police suspect alcohol as a contributing factor in the incident, and will finish their investigation before sending the case to be reviewed by the Elko County District Attorney’s Office for potential charges.
