Tooele High School had ten students who were invited to parrticipate at the University of Utah School of Music Honors Workshop Jan. 28 and 29.
Participating were 142 high school musicians from throughout the state. After two days of rehearsing, workshops and clinics the students performed at Libby Gardner Concert Hall Saturday evening. Dr. Robert Walzel, Chair, School of Music and Eric Peterson, Assistant Director of Bands, both took turns conducting the eight pieces that were performed by students.
Representing Tooele High School were: Katie Bullough (flute), Colbi Liddell (bassoon), Ashley Furuta (clarinet), Whitney Wallace (french horn), Jacob Deckstrand (trumpet), Denis Tillman (alto saxophone), Risa Garcia (euphonium), and percussionists Travis Bankhead, Jeff Hofheins and Mike McPhie.
Tooele High Band director, Marilyn Syra said she was pleased to have her student musicians experience not only the workshops and clinics at the University of Utah, but also performing at the beautiful concert hall. She felt it was a fun two days of long hours of practicing, performing and making new friendships.
