Tooele Arts Festival committee members are looking for volunteers to help plan their upcoming June festival.
The festival will take place this year on June 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and June 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Aquatic Center Park in Tooele City.
Each year there are 10 to 15 committee member volunteers behind the scenes, who make the event possible.
This year, the committee is looking for help.
“There’s a lot of organization that goes into producing the Arts Festival,” Kaye Beeny, director of the festival said. “We’ve had several committee members have recent life changes and they don’t have time to commit to a couple hours per week, so we are lacking people to help organize.”
Beeny is looking for around 10 passionate individuals who want to make the festival a success.
“We are looking for committee members who want to create a really fun and exciting community event,” she said.
Volunteers usually meet weekly or biweekly between January and June on Mondays.
Each volunteer is assigned an aspect of the festival, like securing permits and grants, recruiting vendors and artists, selecting entertainment, and putting together the children’s art yard.
“This is more than what five or six people can handle,” Beeny said. “We definitely need more people.”
Those interested in volunteering should send an email to tooeleartsfestival@gmail.com as soon as possible.
“It’s a really fun group of people,” Beeny said. “It’s really fun to get together and make plans … This is a really time-honored tradition. Our festival has been going on now for more than 30 years … The festival is a staple to the community and the unofficial kickoff for summer. It’s a really rewarding feeling to be able to present something like this to the community.”
