Tooele Transcript Bulletin – News in Tooele, Utah

October 10, 2013
Vote-by-mail is still available until Oct. 31

The first Vote By-Mail (VBM) should be received in your home this week. In fact, I’ve already received some of them back! If you have applied for a VBM ballot after the first of October, you will receive your ballot the third week in October.

If you have not applied for a VBM ballot and would like one, you may get the application by going to the Clerk’s website (listed below). Click on the Elections tab and the “Vote by Mail” link on the left. Fill out the application, get it to my office (email, fax or  mail) and we will get the ballot to you the next week.

Why would you want to vote by VBM ballot? If you’ll be out on town on Nov. 5, have a hard time getting around, don’t like snow (who knows what Nov. 5 may be like!), whatever the reason, you may vote by VBM ballot.

Just a reminder: Residents of Lake Point usually get a VBM ballot sent to them without any effort on their part because their entire precinct votes by mail. In this election, however, the North Tooele County Fire District has chosen to have you vote at the polling location at Stansbury High School. But, if you would prefer to still have your ballot sent to you, please follow the instructions above. If you don’t have access to the internet, please call me at 435-843-3148 and I’ll send one to you. The deadline for VBM ballot requests is Thursday, Oct. 31.

There are a number of ways in which you may get information about the candidates:1. Go to the county website (listed below) and go to the election tab. There you will see links to bio’s and pictures for candidates who have submitted them. 2. Attend one of the “Meet the Candidate Events.” There is a debate for Tooele City candidates on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Tooele Applied Technology College, and a meet the candidates on Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Tooele Senior Center. You can learn about Grantsville’s candidates on Oct. 30 at 9 a.m. at the Grantsville Senior Center. If you know of more opportunities, please let me know so we can post them.

Don’t forget the clerk’s website at  and email at

Thanks for voting!

Marilyn K. Gillette,
Tooele Conty Clerk
