Last year we the voters in Tooele County voted down a $190 million school bond.
Then I believe the next thing that happened was the Tooele County Board of Education granted the RomneyGroupa tax cut on their development for the next 20 years. I don’t see how that helps us or the Board of Education.
This same development was granted an agreement from Commissioners Bitner, Bateman, and MIlne that granted this development what I hear is an air tight agreement that Tooele County will pay for all the infrastructure in this development which we as taxpayers probably can’t afford. You outh to call the County Commissioners and ask about this agreement.
The next thing I read in the paper is that the Tooele County School Board of Education said they could raise the school district levy without the approval of voters.
After they did this, they are now coming to the residents of Tooele County for their permission to retire some bonds and rebond for the $170million. I believe the voters should vote this down again, if we don’t they will have the authority to just raise our taxes again the next time they want money.
I am an 81-year-old retiree living on a mostly defined pension. Which means I haven’t really had a pay increase in the last 19 years. The last few years I worked I did manage to build up a small ITA. When I get my yearly distribution they estimate my life expectancy to be 97 and one-half years old.
The way my property taxes have been going, if I live that long I won’t be able to afford to stay in my home!
I hear a lot of retirees and younger property owners with the ame complaint. Again I recommend to vote no on the bond.
